Result

The finished Hip to Gable and Dormer loft conversion was a display of architectural ingenuity. By elevating the roof with an extended gable end wall, we created space for a light, open master bedroom, stylish en suite bathroom, and, by adapting space in the front pediment, a children’s playroom.

Having assessed the existing structure, our designers calculated the best use of space, developing a practical yet chic loft layout. The first stage involved constructing a light-filled double bedroom. Full-width bi-folding doors add a striking focal point and blur the line between indoors and outdoors. The glass balcony maximises views while providing a reassuring safety feature.

Our clients were keen to develop a refined, grown-up bedroom with minimal clutter. Optimising every nook, custom-fitted wardrobes and niche open shelves were built into the wall alcove. Painting them the same calm colour as the walls makes the space feel bigger and gives a sophisticated finish.

Having been sharing the bathroom with little ones, the new en suite is every parent’s dream. The spacious room features a large shower with overhead rainfall shower, basin vanity unit and WC – without a squeaky bath toy in sight! Simple details such as a built-in shower niche elevate the design.

As the upper floor was completely new, our clients were keen to introduce character. Split face tiles – pictured here in grey – add natural texture to the walls. Accessories like the antique style mirror and traditional shower head, also merge old and new.

Completing the new layout is the children’s loft playroom. Built into the front pediment – the triangular-shaped area at the end of the new gable – it’s the perfect hidey-hole for the children. Our clients were delighted with the clever use of space.
