Result

Adding a combination of a Hip to Gable and Dormer extension opened a vast amount of living space. Rather than designating rooms, the loft space was kept open plan providing our clients with a sprawling master bedroom and bathroom.

Light abounds in the space due to large bi-fold doors opening the length of the rear wall. A frameless glass balustrade acts as a safety barrier while offering unobstructed views.

Rather than a separate room, the en suite is part of the bedroom, creating a boutique hotel style room. Nestled in the corner under large roof lights (with integrated blinds for privacy) stands an elegant roll-top bath. Discreetly tucked behind a half wall is a modern shower room.

Ensuring adequate ventilation is key when installing a bathroom in a bedroom. In this conversion, we ensured there were plenty of accessible loft windows and fixed a high-performance ventilation fan preventing moisture build up. We also blurred the flooring between areas, moving from real wood in the bedroom to waterproof tiles in the bathroom. Matching the shade and shape of the tiles unifies the different floors.

Although a new addition, the space harmonises old and new interiors. Elements such as wood flooring and stone tiles inject warmth into the new loft space.

Each attic is unique and we always seek out ways make the most of architectural features. The deep chimney breast provided scope to carve out a series of wall niches, creating space for our homeowner’s favourite photos and objects. Unlike traditional shelves, niches sit inside the wall, saving valuable square footage and adding a contemporary twist. See more loft conversion ideas here.

Our clients were thrilled with their open concept loft space and attention to detail that went into the build.
