Background
Everyone needs a cosy chill out zone where they can relax and unwind, which was exactly our client’s vision for his loft conversion. As well as creating an individual space for chilling and watching tv, he wanted a stylish space that could double-up as an entertainment area to socialise with friends. He also wanted to build his dream bathroom – a sanctuary with all the comforts without compromising any of the room’s classic quirks.
"I knew I wanted something different for the bathroom but couldn’t quite figure out what. Once I got talking to the guys working on my loft conversion, one suggested a tin-bath, which I thought was a bit quirky. From there everything just fell into place."
Richard, Homeowner
Large rooflights combined with pale walls, give the new lounge space a lovely airy, open feel. While natural wood flooring keeps the look clean and fresh.
Although the space was freshly renovated, care was taken to maintain the warmth and character of the original building. Retaining features such as the traditional wood panelled doors and adding traditional style radiators add vintage charm.
The spot under the loft windows provided the perfect position for our client’s comfy sofa/day bed. To keep the space open and inviting, fitted cupboards were built into the sloping roof, providing ample storage.
Across the hallway, a luxurious, country themed bathroom was installed. Fitted tongue and groove wood panelling on the bathroom walls and blue star patterned floor tiles provide the perfect backdrop for our homeowner’s centrepiece – a stunning standalone slipper bath. The silver accent of the bath chimes brilliantly with the blue colour palette.
A traditional uPVC style sash window preserves the period look of the bathroom. While the homeowner’s vintage furniture and pieces, such as the wooden towel ladder, top off the interior beautifully.
For times when long soaks are not possible, we also installed a contemporary corner shower. Chrome fixings and retro white metro tiles tie the final scheme together.
Our client was delighted with the finished loft space, especially how the renovation embraced his home’s authentic period features.
