Background:

The owners of this Eswyn Road home needed their property to adapt as their twins grew. Their priority was to create a much larger bedroom that could also provide a practical play area, giving the children enough space for sleeping, playing and storing their belongings.

The family also needed another bathroom. Instead of creating an en-suite that could only be entered through one bedroom, they wanted a separate bathroom accessed from the new loft landing. This would make it useful to the occupants of both loft bedrooms and the wider household.

The project therefore needed to provide more than one oversized room. The completed floor had to contain two bedrooms, an independent bathroom and a staircase that connected naturally with the existing home.

An L-shaped dormer conversion provided the additional floor area required to accommodate this family-focused layout.
