Result

Designing and building a split-level L-shaped Dormer at this East London home allowed us to create three spacious rooms, increasing the property’s overall square footage by a third.

The new layout comprises a roomy children’s bedroom and nursery, a private home office, and a separate bathroom with walk-in shower.

The new loft rooms are accessed by a full-size staircase, designed to match the home’s existing stairs right down to the turned spindles and ball finials.

What is immediately noticeable is the huge amount of light that infiltrates the interior. The new children’s room is lit by two Velux windows and a sleek, single black aluminium door. A simple glass Juliet balcony increases safety and offers brilliant views of outside.

To increase storage space, recessed shelves were built into the wall and painted the same colour. This gives the illusion of more space and makes the most of nooks and niches created by the conversion.

Our client’s new loft office provides a modern, private workspace at home. The contemporary space is the perfect home office set up, accommodating a desk, chair, PC and plenty of storage. The large picture window lets in abundant light and offers spectacular views of outside. Rather than having to work around the family, our client can now work and make calls away from the bustle of the main home.

Completing the renovation is a fabulous new loft bathroom. Keen for a relaxing sanctuary brimming with luxurious touches, our designers delivered, with the final bathroom oozing 5-star hotel decadence. The on-trend herringbone tiling and huge walk-in shower give the room a distinct designer edge. Chic finishes such as the built-in shower niche and ‘barely there’ frameless glass shower enclosure complete the look.
