Loft Conversion Staircases

There are many important things to consider when your new loft conversion is being built, and the staircase is no exception.

We make sure that every new staircase matches the same design, look and feel to the existing staircases within your home. We’ll even use an existing spindle as a pattern guide to ensure a bespoke finish. This is also the case with the newel posts and handrails, meaning you’ll have consistent looking staircases throughout your home that look as if they’ve always been there.

Whilst the design and matching the aesthetic to the property is important, keeping the new staircase within all building regulations is also vital. This means we have to keep the stairs at a certain steep and width leading up from the lower floor landing. For example, the new stairs cannot be steeper than 42 degrees, and the width of the staircase has to have a minimum measurement of 600mm. Another thing to consider is safety, therefore we will build the staircase with wider winders around the newel post and have the spindles placed closer together. This is to ensure the risk of potential falling, as well as small children falling through the spindles is at its absolute minimum.

However, we will always aim to utilise as much space as possible in order to make your home feel as spacious as we can.
