Hip to Gable & Dormer – 1 bed, 1 bath, 1 home-office
12 weeks
With our client moving to full-time homeworking due to Covid-19, he wanted to create a luxurious, light-filled loft space to enjoy while both working and relaxing at home.
Our dual goal was to utilise as much space and light available as possible – maximising the loft’s spacious, open feel – while providing fantastic features and finishes to bring luxury and comfort to the interior.
"The client was adamant he wanted a luxury loft. I think we’ve done luxury and more. "
Ian, Project Leader
To create the new loft structure, we installed a hip to gable and dormer loft extension. The combination of these two extensions opened a vast new living space in the semi-detached home.
With so much space to play with, the layout was configured into four rooms, each designed to flow into one another; a large double bedroom, a light and airy en suite, a private home study and a dressing room.
Maximising light throughout are impressive full height black frame aluminium windows – including stylish floor to ceiling versions in the bedroom. Offering panoramic views of outside, they provide the perfect viewing platform for sitting and relaxing.
To introduce even more light – and enjoy some amazing cloud-watching from bed – a bespoke extra-large rooflight was installed in the bedroom ceiling. The beautifully crafted rooflight not only makes a stunning focal point but can easily be adjusted at the touch of the button.
As the conversion essentially added an entire new level there was room to create multiple spaces. As well as a roomy master bedroom, a contemporary en suite was built with spacious glass walk-in shower, along with a separate home study.
The ideal environment for productive homeworking, the new loft office features an expansive window to let in plenty of light, plus remote-control air conditioning system for cooling on warm days.
The office space is also roomy enough to accommodate a full-size desk, dual monitors and office chair, as well as copious storage space.
Of course, no luxurious loft conversion would be complete without a vanity/dressing room. A few steps from the bedroom, a light and spacious dressing area was created. Equipped with its own skylight, ample wardrobe space and full-length mirror, it’s the perfect spot for getting ready.
