The homeowners wanted to gain more usable room without the cost and disruption of moving, while keeping the character of the property intact. Creating extra space within the existing house offered a practical way to stay in one of East London’s most established and well connected residential areas.
The brief centred on versatility. The new loft was planned as a multi purpose space that could work as a home office, music room, guest accommodation, or simply somewhere quieter to relax away from the main part of the house. Natural light, layout, and day to day comfort were all central to the design.
This completed project on Cromwell Road in Walthamstow E17 shows how well planned loft conversions can unlock valuable extra space while staying true to the proportions of the original Victorian and Edwardian terrace homes found throughout the area.
