Fire Safety

Although all buildings have fire safety regulations, the risk is deemed greater in a three-storey building compared to a single or two-storey building. Therefore, the regulations regarding fire safety are much more comprehensive when covering loft conversions, compared to any other type of extension or conversion.

When carrying out a loft conversion, the following guidance for fire safety must be taken into account:

  • Installation of smoke detectors
  • Heat detectors in the kitchen
  • Means of Escape and secondary means of escape
  • Internal Fire Spread (Structure)
  • External Fire Spread
  • mist and sprinkler systems for ope plan design houses
